Went to Eagleville on Friday night with close friends Ben Cates and Terry Wilson where we found what we always find, hospitality and friendship along with good food, a pep band, a big crowd and, of course, some good basketball. My kind of place.

Eagleville was taking on an old opponent, Forrest High School, and the results, while not devastating were, shall we say, disappointing.

The Eagleville girls played one of their best halves of the year and only trailed the powerful Rockets 30 – 26 after 16 minutes but, like most games, there are two halves and Forrest controlled the second one and went on to win 65 – 42.

For Forrest the Curtner sisters (Anna and Christina) had an excellent night as both tallied 18 points each for Chapel Hill

For Eagleville, junior point guard and floor general Julia Adamovicz led the way with 16 points followed by Eagleville’s junior center Kelsie Barnes who had 12.

In boys action, Eagleville forged an early lead using an aggressive man to man defense but were outscored in the 2nd quarter and trailed 27 – 19 at the half. The Eagles made some spurts but never got closer than 5 the rest of the way as Forrest played much slower than Eagleville wished and controlled the pace. To be fair, the 54 – 45 loss was partly caused by the fact that 4 Eagleville players had not played in a week or more due to injuries.

Forrest’s Taylor Gentry led the all scorers with 17 followed by Mark Pope with 11.

For Eagleville guard Michael Davenport had 16 and Brady Ledwell tossed in 15.

Eagleville goes to Community of Tuesday.
