| A 28-year-old man who does not have a valid driver’s license was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Sunday when an officer observed him traveling at a high rate of speed on S. Church Street.
Roberto Hernandez, a native of El Salvador, has been charged with a DUI 1st offense, violation of the implied consent law, and driving without a valid license, according to a Murfreesboro Police Department arrest report filed by Officer Matthew Manor.
“I initiated a traffic stop (of the) vehicle for speeding and failure to maintain the lane of travel,” Manor reported. “I made contact with Hernandez, who admitted to drinking. (He) had blood shot eyes and was unsteady upon his feet, and (he) failed to demonstrate the field sobriety tasks as demonstrated.”
He was then taken into custody without incident. Due to a language barrier, Manor read a Spanish implied consent form while Hernandez followed along, however, he refused to give blood for officers, according to the report.
Hernandez was transported and held on $2,250 bond at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. He is scheduled to appear April 13 in General Sessions Court. |
