A Murfreesboro man whose driver’s license is suspended was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Saturday when he was allegedly observed making an illegal turn on Old Fort Parkway.
Todd L. Carroll, who was convicted in November 2008 of driving under the influence, has been charged with a DUI 2nd offense. At the time of his arrest, Carroll also had an active warrant for failing to appear in court on a previous charge – driving on a suspended license.
Officer John Watson pulled Carroll over just before 3 a.m. after watching him make an illegal U-turn at the intersection of Thompson Lane and Old Fort Parkway, according to a Murfreesboro Police Department arrest report.
“I was able to observe an obvious odor of an intoxicant coming from his person,” Watson reported. “Carroll had bloodshot and glassy eyes, as well as slurred speech. (He) also advised he had (consumed) three alcoholic drinks approximately an hour before driving.”
After Carroll failed to complete field sobriety tests, Watson took him into custody and ran a routine warrants check, at which point he learned a warrant had been issued for the 33-year-old man.
Carroll was then transported to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, where he was held on a $7,500 bond. He is scheduled to appear Dec. 15 in General Sessions Court. |
