A McMinnville man is facing multiple charges after he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence for the third time when police responded to a wreck Saturday on Memorial Boulevard.

Brents L. Molloy, 31, has been charged with a DUI 3rd offense, simple possession of a Schedule III drug, simple possession of a Schedule IV drug, and possession of a drug without a prescription, according to a Murfreesboro Police Department arrest report filed by Officer Andrew Graves.

Graves reported a complainant called to inform police Molloy was allegedly driving erratically when he crashed into a ditch, becoming stuck for a moment before leaving the scene. Molloy was then spotted at McGregor’s Liquor Store, at which point Graves conducted a traffic stop.

“I saw fresh grass and dirt on the wheel of the vehicle,” Graves reported. “Molloy initially could not remember if he had been stuck in a ditch but later recalled the incident … (He) seemed very confused. He advised he had not been drinking alcohol and voluntarily blew into his ignition interlock to prove he could pass it.”

However, Graves reported he found a Sun Drop bottle that had an odor of alcohol emitting from it, a bottle of liquor and several bottles of beers, and several prescription bottles containing various medicines, including Seroquel and Lexapro. A cigarette box wrapper also contained Hydrocodone and Xanax.

After failing field sobriety tests, Molloy was taken into custody and transported to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, where he was held on a $6,500 bond. He is scheduled to appear March 8 in General Sessions Court.
