Blake Rutledge, of Rockvale, is facing multiple charges after being arrested Sept. 25 on suspicion of driving under the influence while his daughter was in the car.
A 29-year-old father is facing multiple charges after being arrested Sept. 25 on suspicion of driving under the influence while his daughter was in the car.

The arrest comes only one month after Blake Rutledge of Rockvale was convicted of a DUI for the first time, according to the Murfreesboro Police Department arrest report.

He has been charged with a DUI 2nd offense, violation of the implied consent law, possession of a Schedule VI drug, and reckless endangerment for having his 4-year-old daughter in the car at the time of the incident.

According to the arrest report filed by Officer Hayley Alden, Rutledge was driving on South Church Street when he was allegedly observed weaving in and out of a traffic lane.

“Rutledge had a strong odor of marijuana emitting from his person, slurred speech, and red, glassy eyes,” Alden reported. “[He] admitted to being at a friend’s residence, where other subjects were smoking marijuana, and [he] had what appeared to be small pieces of marijuana on his shirt, which was collected and placed into evidence.”

Alden asked Rutledge to perform multiple sobriety tests, but he was unable to complete them as demonstrated or explained, according to the report.

No one was injured during the incident.

The girl’s babysitter responded to the scene and took the child home.

Rutledge was transported to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, where he was held on a $5,500 bond. He is scheduled to appear Nov. 10 in General Sessions Court.
