A 41-year-old man is facing multiple charges after being arrested Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence for the third time.
Andrew Dunn Jr. of Murfreesboro has been charged with a DUI 3rd offense, violation of the implied consent law, and violation of the open container law, according to a Murfreesboro Police Department arrest report filed by Officer Jacob Fountain.
If convicted, he could face up to $10,000 in fines and almost one year in jail, in addition to other penalties.
“I observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign on Garrison Avenue, and on Greenland Drive (it) failed to maintain lane of travel, crossing the double yellow line six times,” Fountain reported. “I passed the vehicle on Greenland Drive at 60 mph in a 35-mph hour zone. “
Fountain reported he then conducted a traffic stop, at which point Dunn allegedly advised he had been consuming alcohol.
“Dunn was then placed under arrest, (but) while doing this, he pulled away twice,” Fountain reported. “He was asked twice to place his hands behind his back, at which time he attempted to pull away but was unsuccessful and placed into the patrol car.”
Several shot glasses and a cup, all of which contained alcohol, were also found in his car, according to the report.
Dunn was then transported without further incident to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, where he was held on a $3,500 bond. He is scheduled to appear Jan. 11 in General Sessions Court. |
