A Murfreesboro woman is facing multiple charges after she allegedly told police Oct. 31 she was the go-to source for buying Methadone illegally and admitted to driving while under the influence of alcohol.
This is the second time Elaine J. Morain, 50, has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. She was charged with a DUI 2nd offense, violation of the implied consent law, and possession of a Schedule II substance intended for resale, according to a Murfreesboro Police Department arrest report.
Officer Skye Bradley initially stopped Morain on South Church Street after receiving a tip that a woman who matched her description was driving erratically.
“She advised me numerous times that she was ‘drunk’… I then placed her into custody,” Bradley reported. “Morain advised she had prescribed Methadone in the back of her vehicle that she wanted me to bring to (jail) and requested I get it. When I opened the trunk to get the (medication), I discovered evidence (she) was selling the Methadone.”
After further questioning, Bradley reported Morain said she was the “biggest seller around” and illegally sells Methadone for $40 a tablet. A narcotics detective was then dispatched to the scene to collect evidence and seize the vehicle.
Morain is being held on a $7,000 bond at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. She is scheduled to appear Feb. 7 in General Sessions Court for a preliminary hearing. |
