Middle Tennessee junior Ann Dudley was named Sun Belt Female Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Dudley’s recognition comes following this past weekend’s MTSU Invitational in which she took home the high jump event title, successfully clearing the bar at 5 feet, 9.25 inches (1.76 meters). The Jacksonville, Fla., native also won the women’s 55-meter hurdles while clocking a personal-best time of 8.05 seconds.
This marks the second this season and third time in her career that the high jumper has been recognized as the league’s athlete of the week. She was tabbed Sun Belt Female Field Athlete of the Week earlier this year following her performance at the Kentucky Invitational. Last season, Dudley was honored after her successful showing at the Ed Temple Classic.
“I am once again thrilled for Ann,” said Middle Tennessee head coach Dean Hayes. “It is always a nice reward to be honored by the conference following a great meet.”
The Blue Raider track and field teams return to action this weekend when they host the Valentine Invitational on Saturday at 3 p.m. CT. The meet will follow the Middle Tennessee men’s basketball game against UALR which tips off at noon on ESPN2. The game has been designated as a “Blue Out” as fans are asked to wear blue. Middle Tennessee is encouraging fans to attend both the basketball game and the track meet that follows. |
