A caller out on bond for making harassing phone calls was arrested again Thursday for calling the police department multiple times, especially when he’s intoxicated, a Murfreesboro Police officer reported.
Lawrence Cumbess, 47, of 103 January St. was charged with making harassing phone calls by Officer Dustin Evans.
Cumbess was accused of calling the non-emergency number of the police department 14 times for various reasons. His wife called nine other times.
“All calls stem from him being intoxicated and he usually calls back with the same complaint that he has already been told we cannot resolve and not to call back,” Evans reported.
He called about a civil matter Feb. 3, stating he was worried about going to jail for harassing the police.
“I advised him on two different occasions that if he continued his course, I would be seeking charges on him,” Evans reported.
When he learned Cumbess was in jail for public intoxication and criminal trespassing, Evans charged him with making the harassing phone calls. His hearing is set April 6 in General Sessions Court.
