A driver not wearing her seat belt died after being ejected from her SUV Thursday night on Bradyville Pike, a state trooper said.
Driver Carrie Haney, 29, of Hanover Street died at the crash site near Pebblebrook Drive, said Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Michael Marvin.
Marvin didn’t know what time the crash occurred. When he was dispatched to the scene, he found the engine cold on the 2009 Chevrolet HHR she drove.
Haney was driving toward Murfreesboro when she attempted to negotiate a curve, the trooper said. She went off to the left and rolled her SUV over.
“She was ejected and landed on the road,” Marvin said. “She died from head trauma.”
Wearing a seat belt would have made a difference, he said.
“She probably would have been injured but she would have survived,” Marvin said.
Marvin listed speeding as a contributing factor in the crash.
Haney is the first traffic fatality this year in Rutherford County.
