One driver traveling in excess of 100 mph was stopped after a 10-mile pursuit about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 24 near Murfreesboro, a Rutherford County Sheriff’s deputies said.

Driver Terrrence Ivory, 26, of Nashville, led patrol and Interstate Crime Enforcement deputies on a chase from the state Route 840 interchange to the 86-mile marker between Joe B. Jackson Parkway and Buchanan Road southeast of Murfreesboro, said Deputy Brad Harwell.

Harwell charged Ivory with DUI, felony evading arrest, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and driving without a license after the driver was released from Middle Tennessee Medical Center. Ivory suffered minor injuries after apparently hitting a bridge abutment near Old Hickory Boulevard in Nashville and leaving the scene.

Communications officers received a complaint about a Monte Carlo driving recklessly. Harwell spotted the car near the state Route 840 interchange and tried to stop the driver. The car sustained damage to the front.

Lt. Kenneth Barrett said the driver failed to stop for Harwell who started the pursuit.

“Top speeds reached 100 to 110 mph,” Barrett said, adding the traffic was light to medium. “As you followed it, you could see parts of the car breaking loose.”

When Ivory stopped, deputies saw signs of injuries and called for Emergency Medical Services paramedics to treat him and take him to MTMC for evaluation.

He is being held at Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

Some people drive so crazy on I-24 - we need to report it more often. I'm glad they stopped him before he killed someone.
