Dr. Ronald R. Coleman, age 70, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014. A native of Murfreesboro, TN he was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman R. and Virginia Blanks Coleman.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 3rd, at 2:00PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Dr. Jim Clardy will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with military honors.Dr. Coleman is survived by his long-time companion and special friend, Peggy Phillips; daughters, Leah Coleman Neas and her husband Brad of Murfreesboro, and Lindsey Coleman of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Madelyn Neas and Coleman Neas of Murfreesboro; and sister, Lynn Moss and her husband Ray of Dalton, GA.Dr. Coleman was a beloved father and grandfather. He was a lifelong educator and mentor to many. Dr. Coleman served in the United States Army as a 1st Lieutenant with the Medical Service Corps and was a proud Vietnam veteran. Dr. Coleman was a 1961 graduate of Central High School and received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from MTSU, and his Doctorate in Education from Memphis State. He retired in 2006 from Volunteer State Community College as Dean of Allied Health. He was a member of the Rutherford County Old Timers Baseball Association and also a Tennessee walking horse enthusiast. Members of the Old Timers Baseball Association including, Kenneth Victory, Newt Malloy, Bart Fite, Ronnie Eakes, Walter Taylor, Truman Jones, B.E. Palmer, and Carl David Summars will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.Visitation will be Friday from 4:00PM to 8:00PM and Saturday from 12:00PM till service time all at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
