Murfreesboro Medical Clinic proudly announces the addition of Shawn Horwitz, D.O., to the General Surgery department.
Dr. Horwitz earned his Bachelor of Arts (Cum Laude) in Zoology and History from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in May 2005. In June 2009, he received his Medical Degree (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, OH. Dr. Horwitz completed his Internship in 2010 and Residency in 2014, both at South Point Hospital in Cleveland, OH, where he additionally served as General Surgery Chief Resident. He received the Resident of the Year Award in 2011.
“Dr. Horwitz has participated in some exciting research projects,” said MMC CEO, Joseph. A. Peay. “We are eager to see what he will bring to the Clinic and the community.”
Dr. Hortwitz holds the prestigious accomplishment of having his research published in peer-reviewed journals, as well as the delivery of a number of presentations at medical conventions and seminars. His research has extended internationally, focusing on the HIV/AIDS epidemic and on cardiovascular disease. Additionally, Dr. Horwitz has been a member of the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine teaching faculty since 2009.

Dr. Horwitz was certified through The National Healing Institute and the Undersea Hyperbaric Medical Society in 2009. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, and American College of Surgeons.
When he is not tending to patients, Dr. Horwitz enjoys spending time with his wife Lacey, their two children, and the family dog. He also enjoys travel, soccer, cycling, reading and watching movies.
