Dorothy Virginia Garrett, age 76, of Christiana, passed away on January 24, 2010 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. She was a native and life-long resident of Rutherford County. She was a homemaker and a member of New Zion Church of Christ.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Youngblood and Monie Hill Youngblood; husband, T.R. Garrett; son, James R. Garrett; daughter, Debra Ilene Garrett; sisters, Bessie Adkins and Janie Gentry; and brothers, Roy Youngblood and Thomas Youngblood. She is survived by her sons, Michael Garrett of Christiana and Dennis Garrett of Christiana; brothers, Ronnie Gene Youngblood of Shelbyville and J.W. Youngblood of Lascassas; sister, Linda Brannigan of Christiana; four grandchildren, Gwyndolyn Garrett, Malin Garrett, Renee (Lynn) Herman and Tommy Garrett; and eight great-grandchildren.

A chapel service for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Darryl Lewis and HA Beasley officiating. Burial will follow at Whitworth Cemetery in Link Community. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers.
