Dorothy Stromatt Rankhorn, age 86, of Smyrna, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013.
A native of Nashville, she was the daughter of the late Thomas W. and Mary Ellen Short Stromatt. She was also preceded in death by daughter, Deborah Crecelius, one brother and four sisters.
Mrs. Rankhorn is survived by her daughters, Jeanne Rankhorn of Murfreesboro, TN and Cathey (Alan) Bartlett of Nashville, TN; foster daughter, Lillian Martin of Smyrna, TN; brothers, Leon and Freddy Stromatt both of Nashville, TN; sisters, Atha Proctor of Joelton, TN and Linda Carter of Nashville, TN; foster grandson, Wayne (Sharon) Martin of Nashville, TN; foster granddaughter, Dianne (Carney) Miller of Murfreesboro, TN; foster great-granddaughter, Katelyn Miller of Murfreesboro, TN.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM Thursday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Rev. Milton Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Alan Bartlett, Wayne Martin, Carney Miller, Ron Johnson, Jim Stringfield, and Don King serving as pallbearers.
Mrs. Rankhorn was a member of Living Springs Baptist Church and retired from U. T. Knoxville. She was also a counselor in private practice. She served on the Board of Directors for the Brooks House in Hermitage, TN, Nabi House and White House both in Lebanon, TN, Group Homes.
