Dorothy "Dot" Jane Jones Baird 76, of Lascassas passed away Friday, February 26, 2010 at Baptist Hospital. Mrs. Baird was born in Rutherford Co to the late Houston and Nora Westbrooks Jones. She was a graduate of Bedford County Community High School and Middle TN State University. She began her teaching career at the Midland School until she became secretary for Judge Threet. Later she began teaching at Walter Hill School until her retirement. Mrs. Baird was a member of Lascassas Church of Christ.
Mrs. Baird was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Dudley Baird; brothers, Ferman Jones; J.W. Jones; Cecil Jones; sisters, Margaret Jones; Geneva Smith; and Sarah Goodwin. She is survived by her son John Clinton Baird of Lascassas; grandchildren, John Dudley “J.D.” (Crystal) Baird of Lascassas; Army Specialist Bryan Wesley Baird and his fiance Amanda Reed of Murfreesboro; brother, Wallace (Virginia) Jones of Shelbyville; sisters, Estelle Potts of Dallas, TX and Mary Frances (Paul) Rankhorn of Franklin; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, March 3, 2010 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Graveside will follow at 2:00 pm at Westbrook Cemetery with Bro. Teb Batey officiating. Burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers family ask for donations be made to Lascassas Church of Christ Building Fund, 6402 Lascassas Pk, Lascassas, TN 37085.
