Dorothy Clair Shelton Rooker, age 77 of Smyrna died Saturday May 18, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was a native of Robertson County and was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip Ansel and Mary Torlay Shelton; her husband, William Roy Rooker, Sr., and her sister, Phyllis Ray. Mrs. Rooker was a member of Stones River Baptist Church and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her daughters, Cassandra (Mike)Taylor of Smyrna, Patricia (Wayne)Johnson, of Murfreesboro, Lisa (Randy) Kennedy of Buford Georgia; sons, William (Lisa) Rooker, Jr., of Charlotte North Carolina, Frank (Jennifer) Rooker of Smyrna; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth (John) Siske of Franklin, Kentucky, Mary Jo Buenfil of Lebanon, Marti (Brooks)Dobbs of Lebanon; brother-in-law, Wayne Ray of Lebanon, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Stones River Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Mrs. Rooker.
Funeral service will be 12 Noon on Tuesday at Stones River Baptist Church. Brother Oscar White, Brother Ross Maroney, and Dr. Randy Kennedy will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be 4:00PM to 8:00PM Monday at Stones River Baptist Church and one hour before the service on Tuesday.
