Diana Joyce Shuler Barrett, age 71, of Smyrna, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012 at her residence.

She was a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., but lived most of her life in Rutherford County. Diana was a member of the Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Florence Meade; son-in-law, Gary Prater and grandson, Gary Prater Jr. She was survived by her sons, Brian Shuler of Smyrna and Ricky Shuler of Murfreesboro; daughters, Tinna Prater of Rockvale, Shirley (Henry) Akins of Smyrna, Lisa (Eddie) Davenport of Milton and Stephanie Shuler of Smyrna; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A chapel service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 20, at Jennings and Ayers Chapel. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Vance Shuler, Eddie Davenport, Joshua Davenport, Henry Akins, Brian Bell and Charles Davenport serving as active pallbearers.

Visitation with the family will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 19, at Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home, 820 South Church St., Murfreesboro, 615-893-2422.
