Dems give Womick evidence to DA

Tennessee Democratic Party has handed over all its information about House District 49 candidate Rick Womick to the district attorney, a Democratic official said.

Last week the Democratic party alleged Womick is not actually living in the district he seeks to represent, but instead lives in House District 34, which is represented by fellow Republican Donna Rowland.

“I own it. I lived in it. I live in the district,” Womick said in response to the allegations.

Wade Munday, communications director for the TDP, said the issue is in the hands of District Attorney General Bill Whitesell now.

Whitesell was out of the office and could not comment on the matter.

“It’s kind of outrageous,” Munday said. “He admitted to one reporter that the Republican Party recruited him to run.”

The Democrats claim to have proof that Womick is not living at the Sulpur Springs Road address where he is registered to vote. The evidence includes utility bills, video of the Sulphur Springs Road house and photographs of his other residence.

Copies of the utility bills show water and electricity usage at near zero.

Womick admits to owning two homes, the Sulphur Springs house and a farm in Rockvale where his family has lived since 1997. He bought the Sulphur Springs home in July and transferred his voter registration from an apartment on North Tennessee Boulevard at that time.
