Dead man found in Lytle Creek ruled a homicide

Police are investigating the death of a man found Monday in Lytle Creek as a homicide, according to spokesman Kyle Evans, marking the seventh murder in the city this year.

After an autopsy was conducted on the victim, the cause of death was determined to be homicide, Evans reported Wednesday morning. Detectives have a possible identity on the victim and are awaiting confirmation before releasing his name.

Anyone with information about the case, such as unusual or suspicious behavior around West Main Street or the Lytle Creek area in downtown Murfreesboro, is being asked to call the Criminal Investigations Division at (615) 893-2717 or Crime Stoppers at 893-STOP (7867).
