David Quintin Wright passed away Friday, July 18, 2014 at his home in Murfreesboro, Tennessee surrounded by his horses, friends, family, and his best friend and soul mate, Linda Seay. Born August 8, 1959, he was 54 when he died. He is preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Margaret Wright, known in the Murfreesboro community for their staunch support of the music program at MTSU. David is also survived by his brother Neil and wife Lily Wright, both of Richmond, Kentucky.
An accomplished equestrian, judge, coach, and horse trainer, David also rode as a professional at an elite level of grand prix riders of the United States Equestrian Federation. David served in many capacities in the equestrian community but is perhaps most celebrated for his superior mentoring/coaching, as well as being a fierce competitor and champion rider himself.
Established in 1977 his stable, Hunters Court, was originally located on Dejarnett Lane in Murfreesboro and was subsequently moved to its current location on Franklin Road in 1998. It is his goal that this facility continue to support the valuable legacy he leaves to Murfreesboro and the equestrian community at large.
A celebration of his life for his students, friends, family, and fellow competitors will be held in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, it was David’s wish for contributions to be directed to Canter USA, 8619 Edgewood Park Drive, Commerce Township, Michigan 48382, or The North Shore-LIJ Foundation, 125 Community Drive, Manhasset, NY 11021. In the MEMO section, please write: IMO David Wright, Dr. Boockvar’s Brain Tumor Research Fund.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Woodfin Memorial Chapel and an online guestbook is available for David at www.woodfinchapel.com
