| A La Vergne police officer has been cleared to return to work by the District Attorney’s Office.
Police Chief Ted Boyd contacted the DA’s office Monday morning and was given the OK to put the officer back to work.
“This outcome is what we expected,” Boyd said. “Both the police department and the mayor’s office are glad the officer is back to work where he should be.”
A prisoner made a rape accusation against the officer and the department immediately turned the investigation over to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation also looked into the alleged incident and reported their findings to the district attorney.
