The Dance Theatre of Tennessee is bringing a classic ballet Christmas story that gets everyone ready for the holidays, The Nutcracker. The Nutcracker is a great way for families to celebrate the holidays together. The Dance Theatre of Tennessee has put together this classic performance that is great for every age to enjoy. The Dance Theatre of Tennessee will be performing this classic Christmas story at MTSU’s Tucker Saturday, December 14 at 7: p.m., and Sunday, December 15 at 2:00 p.m. The Nutcracker is great for all ages and is a great opportunity for Murfreesboro to view a beautiful ballet performance. Children will love this performance because it tells an enchanted story of a young girl named Clara and her magical nutcracker. Their journey shows Clara’s nutcracker come to life and shows her a fantasy land of the beautiful Sugar Plum Fairy, dancing snowflakes, fighting mice, cheerful gingersnaps, and many more characters just waiting to meet Clara! It is also great for the bright, vibrant costumes, and the memorable music that puts everyone in the Christmas spirit. This is a performance that will be a great memory with family for every Christmas. The Nutcracker is also a great opportunity for children to appreciate the art of dance and also maybe even want to join a dance studio so they can participate in a show. Christmas is only a few weeks away, and what better way to ring in the season than by seeing the most beloved of all Christmas shows, The Nutcracker. MTSU will have a two-day showing of the famed ballet with music by Tchaikovsky. The shows will be on December 14th and 15th at the tucker theatre. This production means a lot to me; in my senior year of high school for the fall production we performed Nutcracker and The Mouse King. And ever since I have been obsessed with the music and theatricality behind the performance, and what it means as a whole. Christmas just wouldn’t be the same to me without the wondrous music from the show. Hopefully others will get the chance to go and see the amazing production. It is guaranteed to make memories for everyone in the family, from ages young to old. The show is being performed at The Linebaugh Public Library’s storytellers on toes for free on Friday December 6 at 4pm for free. Dance Theatre of Tennessee is performing the show at MTSU. For more information about the show and how to purchase tickets you can always visit their website www.dancetheatretn.org. I hope that everyone has time to see this magical show.
