A father was charged with aggravated domestic assault Saturday after being accused of pointing a gun at his daughter’s friend who lived with the family, a sheriff’s deputy reported.

Suspect Edd Lee Fults, 44, of 572 Meadowview Drive was charged with aggravated domestic assault of the girl and domestic assault of his 15-year-old daughter, Deputy Matt Moseley reported. He was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Moseley and Deputy Michael Parsons responded to the Fults’ home after the daughter reported her father pulled a gun on them. Sgt. Chris Kauffman made contact with Fults who allowed Lt. David Hailey and Deputy Matt Clagg to approach the house.

The daughter told deputies her father drank all day. She and her friend and father got into an argument about religion.

“Fults, during the course of the argument, head-butted (his daughter) and kicked (her friend) in the left leg about mid-thigh,” Moseley reported. The friend suffered a bruise on her leg.

When the girls tried to leave, Fults was accused of pulling the handgun from his pocket and pointing it at the friend, the deputy reported.

“Fults told the girls they were not going anywhere,” Moseley reported.

When Fults left the room, the girls ran to a neighbor’s home for help.

Both girls were released to the friend’s mother and Parsons drove them to a safe location. The Department of Children’s Services is investigating.

Deputies searched the home and found guns, ammunition and illegal knives in Fults’ bedroom.

“A criminal history was run on Fults and it was determined he was a convicted felon of multiple felony charges involving the use of a firearm,” Moseley reported.

Clagg booked Fults into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. A hearing was set July 30 in General Sessions Court.
