A 67-year-old Murfreesboro woman reported Friday she had been raped Jan. 26 at her Drexel Court home in Murfreesboro.

The woman said an unidentified man forced her into a bathroom, held a knife to her throat, and then proceeded to rape her, according to a Murfreesboro Police Department incident report filed by Officer Sean Leiser.

The suspect is described as a black, heavy-set male in his mid- to late-20s.

As of Tuesday, no one had been arrested and charged in connection with the incident, and the matter remains under investigation.

Police looking for robbery suspect
Police are looking for a suspect who allegedly grabbed more than $60 out of a 37-year-old woman’s hands as she attempted to pay for gasoline Jan. 25 at USA Mart on Bradyville Pike.

The suspect is described as a black male with a goatee in his 20s, and he was wearing a grey hooded jacket, black jeans and dark-colored shoes when the incident occurred, according to a Police Department incident report filed by Officer Michael Rickard.

The woman told Rickard she followed the suspect as he fled the scene on a bicycle toward Olympia Place. However, she was unable to catch him when he jumped off the bike and ran behind a stretch of homes on Rogers Street.

Suspicious activity reported
A man allegedly called a teenage girl Jan. 26 at her Alexander Boulevard home asking for personal information, only moments before saying he knew where she lived and would be coming to see her the next day.

The girl told police the man identified himself as “Eric” and initially asked to speak with her parents, but when she advised him they were not home, he began probing for further information, according to a Police Department incident report filed by Officer Vywathana Phothirath.

When the girl’s parents learned about the incident they attempted to call the man back, but the phone number was no longer active. As such, an investigation has been opened into the matter.

Two men busted with cocaine
Police arrested two Murfreesboro men on suspicion of possessing cocaine Monday when officials with the Tennessee Board of Probation of Parole arrived at a nearby Eagle Street home to conduct a home visit.

Kendell Beard, 25, and Rafael Butler, 27, have each been charged with felony possession of a Schedule II drug, according to a Police Department arrest report filed by Detective Reco Hathaway.

Hathaway reported Beard and Butler were behaving suspiciously as they were parked in a driveway next door to the house that law enforcement officials were visiting.

Police then asked to speak with Beard, who briefly attempted to drive away but was quickly stopped.

During a search of the vehicle, police found a large amount of cocaine underneath the passenger seat and $6,750 in the glove compartment, at which point a narcotics detective also arrived on scene to seize the property and money for evidence.

Beard and Butler were taken into custody and transported to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, where they were held on $5,000 bonds. Both men are scheduled to appear Feb. 27 for a preliminary hearing in General Sessions Court.
