A registered sex offender was arrested Nov. 22 when officers were conducting a home verification check and learned the man was wanted in White County for allegedly neglecting to pay child support.
Cory M. Simmons, 41, was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant that had been issued Feb. 2 after being charged with failure to pay child support, according to a Murfreesboro Police Department arrest report filed by Officer Jennifer West.
Simmons, who is unemployed, has recently been living with his mother at her Dudley Street home in Murfreesboro, according to the report.
He has since been transferred to White County.
Armed robbery suspect arrested Officers have arrested one of the three suspects wanted in connection with the Nov. 30 armed robbery of Tennessee Title Loans on N.W. Broad Street.
Murfreesboro resident Brent E. Lauderdale, 19, has been charged with aggravated robbery, according to an MPD arrest report filed by Detective Doug Arrington. The two remaining suspects have not yet been apprehended.
The incident resulted in the store’s owner firing one shot toward the suspects as they fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. However, no one was injured during the incident, according to an MPD incident report filed by Officer Bobby Edwards.
Lauderdale is being held on a $36,000 bond at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 23 in General Sessions Court.
Man charged with burglary A Rockvale man was arrested on suspicion of breaking into an apartment Saturday at The Pointe at Raiders Campus and stealing a Taser gun, which he also used to subdue a woman inside the residence.
Forrest T. Rives, 18, has been charged with aggravated burglary and misdemeanor theft, according to an MPD arrest report filed by Officer Matthew Roe.
According to the report, Rives told police one of the three women who live at the apartment asked him to break into the residence. However, the report did not explain why she would have asked him to commit the burglary, and no charges have been filed against the woman.
Rives was transported to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center for booking. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 28 in General Sessions Court.
Man accused of pointing gun at girlfriend A Murfreesboro man is facing multiple charges after allegedly pointing a loaded sawed-off shotgun at his girlfriend during an altercation Tuesday at the couple’s Naylor Avenue home.
Luis F. Tornco-Gutierrez, 19, has been charged with aggravated domestic assault, possession of a prohibited weapon, and alteration of a manufacturer serial number, according to an MPD arrest report filed by Officer Greg Ireland.
According to the report, Gutierrez became outraged because his girlfriend’s father bought minutes for her cell phone. During the altercation, he retrieved a shotgun, pointed it at her face, and threatened to kill the 19-year-old woman, who is also the mother of his child.
After Gutierrez fell asleep on the floor in front of the doorway, in an effort to prevent the woman from leaving, she tiptoed over him and ran to a neighbor’s house to call police.
Gutierrez was then taken into custody without incident and transported to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, where he was held on an $8,500 bond. He is scheduled to appear Jan. 26 in General Sessions Court. |
