An 18-year-old man was arrested Saturday after he was allegedly caught fondling himself as he followed a woman into the electronics department at Wal-Mart in Murfreesboro.
The incident occurred just after 4 a.m. in the 2000 block of Old Fort Parkway.
Dalton P. Carter, 18, has been charged with indecent exposure in connection with the incident, according to a Murfreesboro Police Department arrest report.
A Wal-Mart assistant manager told police loss prevention employees initially thought Carter was trying to steal items from the department. However, after reviewing security footage, Carter was allegedly recorded rubbing his penis, which was still in his underwear, while he walked behind the woman who was unaware of the situation.
After officers arrived at the scene and watched the videotape, Carter was taken into custody and transported to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, where he was held on a $1,500 bond.
He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Monday, Aug. 6, in General Sessions Court.
West Tennessee fugitive apprehended
A 21-year-old man wanted out of Union City was taken into custody Saturday after police observed him sleeping in a car behind Regal Inn on South Church Street in Murfreesboro.
Michael T. Lynch, who worked as a night manager at Wendy’s, disappeared May 30 from the West Tennessee town – the same night the restaurant’s bank deposit was stolen, according to a detective with the Union City Police Department.
After an investigation revealed that no foul play was involved in the incident and Lynch had actually fled with the money, police issued a warrant for his arrest on a felony theft charge.
When officers with the Police Department learned Lynch had an active warrant out of Union City, they transported him to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, where he was held without bond.
Lynch has since been transferred to Union City, where he appeared for arraignment Tuesday on the theft charge. He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Thursday, June 14, in Obion County General Sessions Court.
Detectives discover man with child pornography
Police allegedly found child pornography Friday at the Foxdale Drive home of a 48-year-old man who was already under investigation in connection with a counterfeit goods operation.
Daniel W. Ginger II has since been charged with the sexual exploitation of a minor, according to a Police Department arrest report.
When Murfreesboro detectives were conducting a search warrant on Ginger’s house, they found the pornographic material, which featured a 10-year-old child, on his computer, as well several other videos.
During an interview at the Police Department, Ginger reportedly told detectives he knew having child pornography was wrong but did not offer an explanation as to why he had purchased the material.
Ginger was then transported to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, where he was held on a $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Thursday, Aug. 9, in General Sessions Court.
The arrest report did not include information about any additional charges in connection with the counterfeit goods operation, and as of Wednesday, the matter remains under investigation. |
