An 18-year-old Murfreesboro man accused of raping a 7-year-old girl was arrested Tuesday after allegedly admitting to investigators that he committed the crime on multiple occasions.
Dylan L. Webster, who lives in the 400 block of Warrior Drive, has been charged with three counts of child rape, according to a Murfreesboro Police Department arrest report.
The investigation into the rape allegations began in January when detectives were notified by a social worker with the Tennessee Department of Children Services that Webster was suspected of raping the girl.
Due to circumstances beyond their control, detectives were unable to interview the girl until recently. In a forensic interview earlier this month, the girl told police the allegations were true, and she gave what detectives described as credible disclosures that implicated Webster in the rapes.
Webster was then called into the Police Department for an interview, at which point he confessed and was transported to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.
A preliminary court hearing on the charges has not yet been scheduled.
Indecent exposure reports under investigation
An investigation has opened into allegations that a man has been exposing himself to women near the intersection of Fortress Boulevard and Franklin Road in Murfreesboro.
Last week, the man allegedly flashed his genitals to a woman who was jogging behind her husband, who did not see the incident occur, according to a Murfreesboro Police Department incident report.
While driving down Fortress Boulevard on Monday, the woman’s husband told police he noticed two young girls walking in the area and saw the vehicle his wife described as belonging to the man.
When he pulled into the parking lot, the woman’s husband saw the man pulling his pants up but could not determined whether he had already exposed himself to the girls. The woman’s husband then wrote down the license plate number of the car and notified police.
Police traced the tag to a possible white male suspect who owns a Nissan Sentra.
As of Thursday, the man had not been arrested or charged in connection with the incidents, and the matter remains under investigation.
