Law enforcement officials confiscated items used for a methamphetamine lab Friday after a Lebanon man reported discovering the makeshift operation at a vacant lot in the 300 block of East Castle Street.
When police arrived on the scene, they found what appeared to be a small, operational lab near a utility pole, at which point detectives responded to begin removing the items and collect evidence, according to a Murfreesboro Police Department incident report filed by Officer Jason Brown.
Officials with the Tennessee Methamphetamine Task Force were also called to the scene to help dispose of the materials.
No charges or arrests have yet been made in connection with the meth lab, and an investigation remains ongoing.
Trailer stolen from nonprofit organization An employee of Special Kids reported Friday a trailer that contained more than $4,500 worth of camping gear and recreational equipment had been stolen from a parking lot on East Main Street.
The woman told police she last saw the trailer, which was padlocked, and its contents Jan. 27, but when she went to the location Feb. 2 everything was gone, according to a Police Department incident report filed by Officer Christopher Wilkins.
Among the items stolen include more than $1,400 in archery equipment, $300 in games and activity sets, as well as an estimated $600 worth of diapers, clothing, and cooking and cleaning supplies.
All of the items inside of the trailer had been labeled as property of Special Kids, which is a Christian nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic rehabilitation and professional nursing services to children with disabilities.

Gun stolen in car burglary A College Grove man reported Friday a handgun was stolen from his vehicle while he was working out at the Murfreesboro Athletic Club on Memorial Boulevard.
The 24-year-old man told police an unidentified suspect used his keys, which were inside of a secured locker at the time of the incident, to gain entry to the vehicle and steal a Smith and Wesson M&P45 handgun. The suspect then placed the keys on the front seat and fled the scene, according to a Police Department report filed by Officer Vywathana Phothirath.
The handgun has since been entered into the National Crime Information Center, a nationwide database that provides law enforcement officials information about stolen property.
As of Wednesday, no suspect had been arrested and charged in connection with the incident, and the investigation continues.
Multiple people arrested after fight Two Murfreesboro men were arrested on suspicion of fighting Saturday when police observed several men allegedly involved in a brawl near the 300 block of South Church Street.
Terrelle D. Shannon, 21, and Thomas J. Mitchell, 21, have each been charged with disorderly conduct, according to a Police Department incident report filed by Officer Joe Zeltner.
Shannon and Mitchell were taken into custody after police reported they saw them punching other men during the fight.
They were transported to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, where Shannon was held on $1,500 and Mitchell was held on a $500 bond. Both men are scheduled to appear April 11 in General Sessions Court. |
