The owner of Samiii’s Hooka Lounge was arrested on suspicion of providing alcohol to underage patrons Sunday, after police received a tip several juveniles were drinking inside of the club.

The club, which is located in the 2800 block of Middle Tennessee Boulevard, is owned by 46-year-old Yousif B. Ihmaidan, who is an Antioch resident.

Ihmaidan has been charged with 13 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to a Murfreesboro Police Department arrest report filed by Officer Christopher Wilkerson.

The 13 charges stem from the fact that nine of the people allegedly caught drinking at the club are juveniles, while the remaining four are adults younger than 21 years old. All were arrested and charged or issued underage consumption citations in connection with the incident.

Ihmaidan, who is a native of Kuwait, was taken into custody at the club before being transported to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, where he was held on a $9,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear April 10 in General Sessions Court.

Police bust on-campus drug operation
An MTSU student is facing multiple drug-related charges after police discovered the man and two companions allegedly breaking up marijuana plants for distribution Monday inside a dorm in Cummings Hall.

Nathan J. Nuss, 18, has been charged with possession of a Schedule III with the intent to sale, possession of a Schedule II with the intent to sale, possession of a Schedule VI substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a Murfreesboro Police Department arrest report filed by Officer Michael Levy.

When police searched the dorm room, they found multiple bags of marijuana, a digital scale, hydrocodone and oxycodone pills, and a lockbox that contained more than $1,800 in cash, all of which was seized by narcotics detectives.

After police took Nuss into custody and took him to the Police Department to be interviewed, he reportedly told detectives that he has been selling 2 to 3 ounces of marijuana a week for nearly six months.

Nuss was then transported to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, where he was held without bond. He is scheduled to appear May 1 for a preliminary hearing in General Sessions Court.

It’s always disappointing to read articles about the absence of conscience and overall respect from America’s youth today. I don’t know whether it’s that kids are growing up in environments that don’t teach proper values, or if law enforcement isn’t as intimidating as it used to be. It almost seems that kids find it “cool” to be arrested or to feel like they are getting away with breaking the law in general. When it comes to adults, however, there is no excuse for such poor behavior. Laws are made for a reason. It doesn’t matter that minors divulged in such enabled and unlawful acts. It was the responsibility of the adult-only establishment to adhere by the written law. Of course adults are more to blame than underage kids and minors, but there should be a middle ground between the compliance. If middle-aged businessmen feel the need to sell alcohol to children in order to sustain a company, there is definitely something wrong in that situation. If 18-year old kids feel the need to sell drugs instead of finding an honest job and working hard in school, they have misinterpreted the purpose of a college education. Everyone should work harder, work together, and learn to communicate the importance of obeying laws for everyone’s sake.
