A Murfreesboro man reported more than $1,500 worth of property had been stolen Jan. 12 from his Fortress Boulevard apartment.
In addition to a Seiko watch, a University of Alabama class ring, white gold diamond necklace and an iPod, an unknown number of suspects also broke into the man’s safe and took personal paperwork, including bank statements, according to a Murfreesboro Police Department incident report filed by Officer Stephen McGowan.
The man told police he was not aware of anyone who would have committed the burglary, and the investigation into the incident continues.
Attempted arson under investigation
Officials with the Murfreesboro Fire Department are investigating a possible attempted arson at a rental home on Briar Bend Drive, after the property owners discovered damage to electrical wires.
Upon finding the damage, the owners hired an electrician to assess the situation and repair the wires. The electrician said he believed the damage was intentional, at which point the owners notified the authorities, according an MPD incident report filed by Officer Andrew Graves.
As of Tuesday, no one had been charged in connection with the incident.
Man charged with resisting arrest
A California man is facing multiple charges after police responded to reports of a fight Saturday outside of IHOP Restaurant on Old Fort Parkway.
Mack C. Mason, 21, has been charged with simple possession of a Schedule VI drug and resisting arrest, according to an MPD arrest report filed by Officer Julie Treadway and Sgt. Allen Cox.
When police responded to the scene just after 2 a.m., Mason allegedly refused to listen to Cox’s commands, struggling with both responding officers outside of the restaurant. After he was eventually taken into custody, police found a small bag of marijuana in his hand.
Mason was then transported to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged accordingly and held on a $2,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear March 12 in General Sessions Court.
Police looking for shooting suspect
Police are looking for a suspect wanted in connection with the shooting of a 51-year-old man Monday during a home invasion on Dosie Drive.
Just before 6 p.m., the suspect kicked in the front door of the home and shot the resident multiple times, according to an MPD incident report filed by Officer J. Carroll.
The resident suffered minor injuries and was transported to Middle Tennessee Medical Center.
The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s, who is about 5 feet 7 inches tall. He was wearing a blue windbreaker jacket at the time of the incident.
