Democratic Candidate Name: Jennifer Meagher Gerhart Occupation: Rutherford County Register of Deeds Education: Auburn University, Bachelor’s in economics Contact information: 615-896-8655
Why are you running? It has been an honor serving as Register of Deeds for the past 12 years.
As Register of Deeds, I have been able to improve services to the people of Rutherford County. I have implemented a computer system, which has enabled clients to search, and view documents dated back to January 1985. Scanners have been utilized to eliminate the costs of books and paper. I have developed a website, which allows for easier and faster title searches, allowing clients to research from home or office. Customers also have the ability to receive documents via e-mail.
I have saved taxpayers money by returning more than $12 million in excess fee to the Rutherford County General Fund.
I will continue to provide efficient, cost-effective, and courteous service to the citizens of Rutherford County.
Republican Candidate Name: Heather Dawbarn Occupation: Legal Assistant to Larry Crain in Brentwood Law Offices Education: Bachelor of Sciences from UT-Martin in Mass Communications Website: facebook.com/pages/Heather-Dawbarn-for-Rutherford-Co-Register-of-Deeds
Why are you running? I have been growing in concern for the past several years on the seemingly lost concept that government is to serve the people not the other way around.
I found myself saying “they should do something” and realized I am one of “they”. Voter apathy has never been so apparent as in Murfreesboro City Elections. I believe in servant leadership and in giving the public an option when voting. I offer myself as a servant to the Rutherford County citizenry in the role of Register of Deeds.
I do so as a concerned citizen who has chosen to get involved. |
