In recognition of America Recycles Day, the Rutherford County Environmental Education Program, in partnership with MaxShred, will offer a free local shred day from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13 at the County Courthouse.

Citizens may drive through the inner circle of the courthouse and student volunteers will unload items, which will be instantly and securely shredded on-site.

The shredded paper is then recycled into new paper products.

During the last collaborative event a total of 4,375 pounds of paper was recycled and shredded.

This is a great time to safely dispose of receipts, tax information, or any other documents with sensitive information.

This event is for households only, and each citizen is limited to two banker boxes of documents to be shredded.
