One Rutherford County driver died after crossing into the opposite lane and collided with another car about 9:30 a.m. Monday on Medical Center Parkway, Murfreesboro Police reported.
Driver Robert Thomas Jr. of Asbury Lane died of injuries suffered in the two-vehicle crash near Searcy Street, reported police spokesman Kyle Evans. Both Thomas and second driver Randall Shelton of Hermitage were treated by paramedics and taken to Middle Tennessee Medical Center.
Thomas died at the medical center. Shelton was treated for minor injuries and released.
Officers of the Fatal Accident Crash Team believe Thomas, who was traveling toward the interstate, lost control of his vehicle and crossed the centerline, Evans reported. Thomas’ vehicle collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by Shelton.
The crash remains under investigation by the FACT.
Thomas is the 12th traffic fatality this year in Rutherford County.
