One convicted sex offender wanted for violating the sex offender’s registry was arrested for living near a Murfreesboro elementary school, a Rutherford County sheriff’s detective said Thursday.

Convict Christopher Mark Sobol lived in Saddlebrook Apartments near Northfield Elementary School, said Detective Chuck Thomas. Under the sexual offender registry law, convicted child sex offenders are ordered to stay away from children.

Sobol, 46, was wanted for two counts of violating the child sexual abuse registry by Murfreesboro Police.

Thomas, who is assigned to the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, and Deputy Jack Keisling of the sheriff’s Criminal Warrants Division, did surveillance and apprehended Sobol Monday afternoon.

Sobol is being held in Rutherford County Adult Detention Center while awaiting a hearing Monday in Circuit Court.
