Our beloved son, Colby Lane Whetstone, age 21, left this earth in the arms of Jesus to go be with his Savior at his Heavenly home on July 1, 2014, surrounded by his family and friends.
Colby graced this world with his beautiful spirit on November 22, 1992, when he was born to Larkin and Donna Harrell Whetstone in Gretna, LA. In addition to his parents, Colby is survived by his family who loves him with all their hearts, brothers Ryan, Micah, and Caden Whetstone; sisters in law Brittany and Ashley; grandparents Dell and Judi Murphy, Helen Whetstone, Robert and Darlene Harrell; great grandmother Alice Clark; nephews Baylen and Camden Whetstone; niece MaKenna Whetstone, and other loving family.
Preceding him in death were his grandfather, Craig Whetstone and great grandfather, Marion Clark.
Colby, also lovingly known as “Obo” was treasured by all who knew and loved him. He was a very special person who made the world a better place with his joyful countenance and his ability to lift spirits.
He excelled both academically and in sports, and loved playing baseball, counting the days he was a “Mud Dog” as some of his best. He made many friends while playing on traveling teams, and was a graduate of Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, TN.
Visitation with the family will be 4:00 until 8:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel in Murfreesboro.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday, July 8, at 10:00 am at First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro with Rev. Jason Murphy, his uncle, officiating.
Graveside services will be 10:00am Wednesday at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Oak Ridge, Louisiana under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe. Jason Murphy will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Colby.
Obo, we thank God for giving you to us for 21 years, and for all the lives you touched and the joy and happiness you brought. We will cherish these memories for the rest of our days until you welcome us in Heaven.
