Clark sets record with eighth player of week pick | MT women's basketball, Clark

ALYSHA CLARK
NEW ORLEANS - Middle Tennessee redshirt senior All-American forward Alysha Clark added another piece of hardware to her trophy case Tuesday as she was selected the December 15 Sun Belt Player of the Week.

Clark sets a Blue Raider school record with the accolade, increasing her career total to eight. She surpasses the previous mark of seven set by Amber Holt during her two seasons at Middle Tennessee.

Clark's honor, the second of the campaign for the Mt. Juliet, Tenn., native, comes on the heels of her averaging a double-double of 23.0 ppg and 12.5 rpg this past week in road games at Louisville and South Dakota State.

She capped the week by being named one of 26 Honorable Mention selections for the Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup. Clark was the only Sun Belt Conference representative and one of two Division I women's basketball players on the list, which included student-athletes from a variety of sports and all three NCAA divisions.

Clark is currently eighth nationally with 23.3 ppg and sixth with 12.3 rpg, while ranking second and first in the Sun Belt in the respective categories.

Overall, Middle Tennessee has 21 Sun Belt Player of the Week honors since head coach Rick Insell's arrival, the most of any league school in that timeframe.

She will join the rest of her Blue Raider teammates for the league opener at 2 p.m. Sunday against Western Kentucky inside the Murphy Center.
