Clare Christian, 79, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., died Oct. 18, 2013, at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital.
She was a native of Liverpool, England, and a daughter of the late Martin Byrne and Mary Mahoney Byrne.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers, her husband, Donald Christian, and her son Westley Christian.
Mrs. Christian is survived by a daughter, Kellie Hancock, and her husband, Phil, of Smyrna, Tenn.; grandsons, Mark Christian Hancock and his wife, Rachel, and their son, Reed Emerson Hancock, all of Murfreesboro, Jason Shane Hancock and his wife, Cassie, and their sons, Noah Hunter and Evan Reed Hancock, all of Smyrna; and a host of loving family and friends.
Mrs. Christian was a member of the Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church and retired as the political science department secretary at Middle Tennessee State University after 29 years of service.
Visitation was held Oct. 20 and Oct. 22 from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. A funeral mass beginning was held at 11 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Mark Sappenfield officiating. She was buried in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
