Murfreesboro Personnel Department Director and City Treasurer Sue Mahon has announced she will retire April 1, 2010.
“Please accept this letter as notice of my intent to retire next year on April 1, 2010,” she wrote in her letter to Mayor Tommy Bragg and the members of Murfreesboro City Council.
“I have truly enjoyed serving the City and the citizens of Murfreesboro for almost twenty years. It has been a tremendous honor and privilege to serve as the City Treasurer/Personnel Director under your leadership. Your cooperation and support have been invaluable in this accomplishment.”
Important in her decision to retire is a desire “to spend more time with my family,” she said.
She stressed her appreciation for the time she has spent with the City of Murfreesboro.
“It’s been a tremendous privilege to serve with the city’s wonderful department heads and staff,” she said, “along with the Personnel Department staff who have worked with me diligently and loyally over the past years.
“I will miss the many close friends and working relationships that I have developed during my tenure here, “ she added. “I will always treasure the opportunity of working for this great city.”
City Manager Rob Lyons congratulated her on her impending retirement in a notice to employees she would be retiring.
“I know you join me in wishing Sue all the best in her retirement,” he said. “We are so thankful for her long service to our community, for her dedication to our employees and her hard work, teamwork and willingness to do everything she could for the betterment of Murfreesboro.”
