Murfreesboro announced a Grand Opening Celebration for the Greenway System’s latest addition, the new Cason Trailhead and 3-mile greenway extension.

Extending from Old Fort Park to Highway 99, the greenway follows the West Fork of the Stones River with scenic overlooks, an impressive bridge crossing, and continuing access to the beautiful natural settings within Murfreesboro.

Cason Trailhead, 1100 Cason Trail, features one large and two small pavilions, restrooms and a children’s playground.

The Grand Opening Celebration will take place from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28. The public is cordially invited to join local officials and dignitaries for a ribbon-cutting and opening ceremony followed by a community celebration featuring live music, family activities and cookout.

Presented by the City of Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department, Friends of the Greenway and Lose and Associates, free admission and free food while supplies last.
