How much $$$$$$$ for this project?
How much $$$$$$$ to maintain this project?

Must be free money?????????

We got bad roads that need help more than another Greenway.

First of all, TN has some of the best roads in the nation.... consider yourself lucky. I didn't realize how good the roads were until I moved away! Secondly, maybe if the Greenway is expanding then more people can use it instead of the roads! This would help pollution, traffic, and many other things! I think the Greenway should expand as much as possible! My complaint on Murfreesboro is there aren't many, if any, greenspaces and parks. It feels like a city of pavement to me. I would love to see Murfreesboro keep expanding their Greenway and parks system. Then maybe I could live there again!

I believe much of the money for the Greenway comes from the FED. Also I think any money used for this endeavor is well worth it! It is used by many citizens and is one of the many things that we can be very proud.

The money for the greenway project was obtained years ago by Bart Gordon in the form of a federal grant. All the work that is going on now was paid for when the greenway started.

Greenway expansion is worth every penny to our quality of life. If you don't think so, get on out there and use it!

The Greenway is a project that makes Murfreesboro just a better place to live!

Mags you are right. Now two thoughts here:
1) Who is paying for the maintenance, upgrades, security on the Murfreesboro Greenway?

2) If every city in America got such a grant, would it have an impact on taxes, especially if you do not use the Greenway?

Users should pay a fee to use the Greenway, that would then only tax those who want the amenity.

Good idea.... But if we only paid for what we use, think of the tax dollars the school system would lose from people who don't have any children or don't have children attending school. Many more examples exist....As much as we all hate taxes, there is some good that comes from them. The Greenway is a great asset to this area.

Yeah, I'm not sure how you complain about the Greenway. I live near the new trailhead and have seen an increase in kids and adults getting active, biking, walking, etc. Anything that promotes being outside and active instead of video games and tv, I think is good for any community and a well spent investment in the health and well being of that community. It has caused me to consider riding my bike to work.
Catman411...good point. I plan on sending my kids to private school. I could complain that I should get a tax credit for paying taxes that go to public school.

the green way is awesome I walk it with my dog 3 times a week. Lost 15 pounds and feel so much better. Itsgood I pay for a great many things state local and federal gov's do that I don't agree with. You compromise, give a little to get a little. The greenway is a good community benefit that is an attractive extra that will entice co's to bring jobs here, maybe Harley's!
