Picasso, Renoir, Mozart, and even the Beatles were all once small children and then budding artists who depended on the support of others to develop their skills.
This year, The (Murfreesboro) City Schools Foundation will host Excellence in Education Celebration II and honor Murfreesboro civic and business leaders Gloria and Ted LaRoche, who have committed their lives to the betterment of education and providing for enrichment of schoolchildren of all ages.
Excellence in Education Celebration II is slated for Friday, March 13 at Middle Tennessee State University’s James Union Building. The featured school is Bradley Elementary, the system’s arts school, and the focus for the evening will be the arts.
“The LaRoches are the perfect honorees for this year’s dinner Celebration,” said Bubba Dempsey, Foundation Trustee and Co-Chair for this year’s event along with fellow Trustee, Max Moss. “As we emphasize the importance of service to our community, I can't think of more terrific role models for our schoolchildren.”
The event benefits the City Schools Foundation, an independent nonprofit organization initiated in spring 2006 by civic and business leaders in support of Murfreesboro City School’s twelve schools and more than 7,000 schoolchildren. The Board of Trustees initial goals are to boost the primary system’s financial backing in the areas of science, academic competition and excellence, and financial parity in the schools.
With funding provided by generous sponsors and private contributors last year’s event grossed more than $86,000.
Corporate Sponsorships are again being requested at the DaVinci, ($10,000), Picasso, ($5,000) and Monet ($2,500) giving levels. Corporate hosts will be invited to a Preview Party earlier in the evening at the home of MTSU President Sidney McPhee and his wife Elizabeth McPhee, Trustee of the City Schools Foundation. Individual tickets may be purchased for $250 and tables for $2,000.
