Murfreesboro City Schools has postponed TCAP testing until the last week of the month, a school official said.

Because of the severe damaged caused by the God Friday Tornado, Murfreesboro City Schools has gotten permission from the Tennessee Department of Education to postpone TCAP testing until the week of April 27 with a makeup day scheduled for May 1, MCS spokeswoman Cheryl Harris said.

“They agreed even to volunteer with helping to pack up the tests and sending proctors to help,” Harris said.

Harris said Black Fox Elementary, Erma Siegel Elementary, John Pittard Elementary, Mitchell Neilson Primary and Elementary, the Discovery School at Reeves Rogers and Northfield Elementary schools were the hardest hit by the tornado.

Northfield Elementary, which serves the Haynes Drive area, had the most students affected by the tornado, with 10 percent of students absent from class Monday.

Harris also said all schools will participate in the Heart of Tennessee Red Cross fundraiser for tornado victims starting this week.
