A retired Metro-Nashville Public Schools educator will lead Murfreesboro City Schools in the interim until a permanent director is named.

At a special-called board of education meeting Tuesday night, MCS named Carolyn Baldwin Tucker as interim director of the school system. The interim director will be responsible for maintaining the system until a permanent director is appointed.

“The bottom line is what can we do for the children to ensure their personal and academic success,” Tucker said during her interview with the board.

Tucker is a former director of graduate education for David Lipscomb University in Nashville (2000-2002) and a retired, 30-year educator for Metro-Nashville Public Schools as a teacher, principal and elementary schools administrator. She current teaches education classes at Lipscomb and mentors young teachers.
