City releases flooding statement

The City of Murfreesboro released the following statement Monday:

Weekend rains that reached or exceeded 100- and 500-year events over the weekend caused problems in Murfreesboro as well.

If you are experiencing flooding problems in the city, please call 893-6441 and city personnel want to help.

Though Murfreesboro Electric Department (MED) has only disconnected two or three power meters so far, officials are warning residents not to connect small generators to their services. Power line workers and residents can be injured or killed when generatros are improperly installed.

Here is a question and answer publication prepared for residents who have experienced natural disasters. If the flood damage is severe and you need an experienced contractor, check to be sure he or she has a State of Tennessee contractor's license.
