This is the first positive step that has been taken to alleviate a dangerous situation. The solution may get bogged down in red tape but it is now time for our state representatives to go to work for those who elected them. The city seems to have gotten the monkey off it's back.I did not know that this was state route 99 and still don't know how it conects to the portion of Rt 99 that goes through Eagleville.

Wonderif they will put in a bike lane on both sides?Or if they will even be used.

I'm all for the sidewalks, but if they add a third lane also the road is going to be awfully close to the houses in the area where the accident happened.

There is already a third (turn) lane in one place near where the accident happened. When Middle Tn. was widened they took out all the houses on one side. This would be no worse than when they re-did Sulphur Springs Rd.

I watched as the Council approved the resolution. It seemed as if it was something that was crammed down their throats. There was no discussion, no one spoke in support, no one pointed out that this was for the public good, and the feeling that I got that, once again, the unanimous silence, signaled that the families along this stretch of road were not represented.

"...they’ve got a 12-inch area on the side where you’re supposed to walk..."
well, you're not "supposed" to walk down the street. That implies that its forced and a requirement.
And I've said it before, a sidewalk WILL NOT prevent children from darting in front of oncoming traffic.
Otherwise, I'd love to see more sidewalks in Murfreesboro.
