It may still be summertime, but some Murfreesboro students are preparing to return to the classroom.
Murfreesboro City Schools registration for year-round schools begins Tuesday, July 15 and the first day for students is July 21.
MCS’s year-round, or alternative calendar schools, are Bradley Academy, Bellwood-Bowdoin Preschool, Cason Lane Academy, Erma Siegel Elementary, Hobgood, Scales and the Discovery School at Reeves-Rogers.
Registration for traditional calendar students is Aug. 5 and school starts Aug. 11.
Rutherford County Schools start falls closely with MCS. Registration is Aug. 8 and the classrooms open Aug. 11.
And there’s no better way to kick off the new school year than at the 2nd annual Back to School Celebration from 2-4:30 p.m. Aug. 10 in downtown Murfreesboro.
All public, private and home-educated pre-k to 12th grade students and families in the county are invited to attend this free event.
The celebration’s mission is to bring the community and its students together and to bring an understanding of the honor of an education.
Also, the first 500 students to enter the celebration will receive a free cooler lunchbox.
