One victim of an earlier vehicle burglary apprehended a suspect trying to break into a friend’s car Tuesday at Stewarts Creek Boat Ramp, sheriff’s officers reported Thursday.

Victim Melvin Agee of Smyrna apprehended suspect Christopher William Richardson allegedly attempting to break into a vehicle owned by Brannon Elizabeth Hamlett about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at the boat ramp, Deputy Jonathon Stephens reported.park

Agee heard exhaust sounds from a vehicle moments before burglars broke into his vehicle Monday night at the boat ramp. When he heard the same exhaust Tuesday night, Agee and friend Joshua Patrick Gregory approached their parked vehicles.

They saw a young man apparently trying to smash the window out of Hamlett’s car with bolt cutters, the deputy reported. Agee yelled at the young man who turned toward him with the bolt cutters still raised.

“Mr. Agee said he detained the subject that had the bolt cutters,” Stephens reported.

Cpl. Tyler Morten and Stephens responded and charged Richardson with attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of marijuana and Xanax and carrying a prohibited switchblade knife in his pocket.

Detective Ralph Mayercik (Mare-a-sick) said Agee detained Richardson until the officers arrived.

“Mr. Agee physically caught the suspect getting ready to small the windows of a car,” Mayercik said. “Mr. Agee put himself in harm’s way apprehending a felon. It’s a good reflection of the cooperative effort between citizens and deputies.”

Richardson’s companion fled the scene in a beige pickup truck.

Through the investigation, officers developed Cody Blake Parks as the second suspect. Deputy Mike Hoekstra apprehended Parks Wednesday near the boat ramp.

“Deputy Hoekstra was instrumental in tying the burglaries together,” Mayercik said.

The suspects were linked to several auto burglaries recently at the boat ramp, the detective said.

Richardson, 18, of 213 Boone St. in Smyrna and Parks, 18, of 8340 Couchville Pike in Mt. Juliet were charged with multiple auto burglaries, attempted auto burglary and possession of burglary tools.

They were booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where they are being held. A hearing is scheduled Dec. 14 in General Sessions Court.

Citizens with more information on the case may call Mayercik at 904-4044.

I'm confused, are the above photos those of the bad guys, the good guys or one of each?

Congrats to the good guys.
