Cities, county closed in observance of MLK Day

Local, state and federal government will honor the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday.

All government offices will be closed in observance of the holiday.

Also the City of La Vergne will hold a remembrance ceremony at 10 a.m. Monday at City Hall, located at 5093 Murfreesboro Rd.

“This is our first ever ceremony honoring one of the greatest leaders of the civil rights movement,” said Jeff Marler, director of Parks & Recreation. “We would like to invite everyone to stop by City Hall to be a part of this inaugural event.”

Light refreshments will be served following the event.

All City of Murfreebsoro offices and recreational facilities, except the Old Fort and veterans administration golf courses, will be closed. 

There will be no regular garbage pick-up that day. Monday’s garbage pick-up will be Jan. 22, and Tuesday’s garbage pick-up will be Jan. 23.
