Democratic Candidate
Name: Eloise Gaither Occupation: Circuit Court Clerk Education: Two years MTSU, Certified Public Administrator from UT, 16 hours continuing education per year. Contact information: egaither@united.net
Why are you running? I have worked in the Rutherford County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office for the last 45 years.
I have held the positions of deputy clerk, administrative assistant and I have served as the ciruit court clerk for the past 16 years. I am also the clerk for Juvenile and General Sessions Court.
I feel that my experience, length of service and dedication to the ciruit court clerk’s office qualifies me for this position.
I pledge to continue the high standard of professionalism the people of Rutherford County have grown to expect from the Clerk’s office. As public servants, my staff and I have worked diligently to earn the respect and trust of those we serve. We will continue to operate the ciruit court clerk’s office with integrity and professionalism.
Republican Candidate Name: Laura Bohling Occupation: Engineering Project Coordinator/Administrator Education: currently attending Western Governors University seeking a BA, Education, Social Studies; Sawyer College of Business (Office Administration) Website: VoteLauraBohling.com or laurabohlinghq@gmail.com
Why are you running? I feel compelled to become a public servant, to restore its historic and storied role back to the awareness of the voting public, and to help my children understand the importance of not just speaking about reform, but actually being an agent in the reformation. I am taking action by running for the position of ciruit court clerk.
With little information available via the Rutherford County government website or other general sources, many miss the critical role that the ciruit court clerk’s office and its staff members play in the administration of justice for Rutherford County. There isn’t even an official job description for the ciruit court clerk, so the lack of interest or concern by the public for this office, despite it being responsible for more than $1,000,000 annually, is understandable.
My mission starts not with regaling what “needs to happen” or telling folks “what we have to do.” What is important to me is telling “the story”--finding out the “why’s”, “how’s”, and “what’s” of the circuit court clerk’s office, communicating this information to the public, researching best practices from other successful counties, and working with those who interact with the office on ways to bring processes into the 21st century. ...
Before I can start 1) updating the county Circuit court clerk website, 2) gathering suggestions from the legal community about implementing more efficient and cost-effective online court docket calendars and filing systems to replace antiquated phone call and postal mailing processes or 3) regularly publishing financial and collections statistics, I hope to help others become more informed about this critical, yet unfamiliar role in Rutherford County government and judicial administration. |
